Jackets Off! 2025: A Celebration of The Great Gatsby
Welcome back to Bologna Global Rights Exchange!
Today I am excited to tell you more about Jackets Off!, an exhibition followed by seminar discussion regarding cover designs around the world, how they differ from each other and the way each one of them can express different interpretations of the book at hand.
The exhibition is curated by BolognaBookPlus in collaboration with Mimaster Illustrazione Milano, offering a number of publishers, illustrators and designers with insights into the art of making book covers.
This year’s Jackets Off! title is The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald, of which the centenary will be marked in 2025. By focusing on such a well known classic of Western literature, we will have the opportunity to think about the many different editions the book has gone through across time and place. This will encourage discussions on the power of book covers and therefore the art that constitute the ideas and visions that are behind the finished products.
In a world where communication and collaboration is key, Jackets Off! is an exhibition dedicated to rethinking the value of publishing across borders.
The Jackets Off! Exhibition will be displayed on a wall within the BolognaBookPlus area. Come along to see a selection of international jacket covers spanning the past few decades showing how The Great Gatsby is represented around the world.
Hopefully, you can come and find us there. Please see the full list of events at the 2025 Bologna Book Fair on our official website: Programma eventi 2025.
See you in Bologna!
